Tongue Demon from Demon Slayer

Tongue Demon, the Tsuzumi Mansion Demon

Who is Tongue Demon?

The Tongue Demon was an inhabitant of the Tsuzumi Mansion in “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba.” He was a large, muscular demon with gray skin and dark blue hair that was set back to accommodate two small horns on his forehead. His distinctive facial features included two sets of eyes—one large and green, the other smaller with red irises—and a notably long tongue. His face and arms were marked with navy blue arrows, and he had large blue patches on each temple.

Typically bare-chested, the Tongue Demon wore only the lower half of a patterned yukata that reached his knees.

Tongue Demon’s Personality and Background

The Tongue Demon from “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” was a malevolent creature with little intelligence, often seen talking to himself and repeating words. He preferred to slither on the ground rather than walk. His existence revolved around consuming humans, particularly those with rare Marechi blood, which was considered a delicacy among demons.

Before the series’ protagonists, Tanjiro Kamado and Zenitsu Agatsuma, arrived at the Tsuzumi Mansion, the Tongue Demon became aware that Kyogai, the mansion’s residing demon, had captured a boy named Kiyoshi for his Marechi blood. A dispute erupted between the Tongue Demon, Kyogai, and another demon over who would eat the boy. During the squabble, the Horned Demon tore off one of Kyogai’s tsuzumi drums, which Kiyoshi used to escape, prompting a frantic search by the demons within the mansion.
