Who is Enmu?
Enmu, also known as Lower Rank One, is a significant antagonist in the Demon Slayer series, specifically in the “Mugen Train” arc. As a member of the Twelve Kizuki, he holds the lowest rank but is nonetheless a formidable foe. The Twelve Kizuki are a group of powerful demons who serve directly under Muzan Kibutsuji, the first and most powerful demon in existence. Enmu’s primary role in the series is to carry out the orders of Kibutsuji, which often involve fighting against the Demon Slayers, a group of warriors dedicated to eradicating demons and protecting humanity.
Enmu has a notably pale complexion, almost appearing white, and his body gives off the impression of constantly melting or dripping, creating a creepy and unsettling look. His eyes are ringed in blue and slant sharply downwards at the edges of his face. The left eye prominently displays the kanji for “Lower One” within its iris, while the right eye has a horizontal slit instead of a typical pupil. On each cheek, he has three square-shaped designs, with each main square accompanied by a smaller one in between. These markings transition from green to yellow. His dark black hair, which reaches his chin, is parted to his right, with the right side neatly tucked behind his ear.
Enmu’s primary ability is dream manipulation. He can put his victims to sleep and trap them in their dreams, making them relive their deepest fears or desires. This power is not only effective in combat but also serves as a psychological weapon, allowing Enmu to break his opponents mentally before even engaging them physically. He can also fuse with inanimate objects, like the Mugen Train, to control and manipulate them to his advantage.
In terms of personality, Enmu is cruel, and sadistic, and enjoys the suffering of others, particularly humans. He relishes in the fear and despair his powers can induce. Despite his sadistic nature, he is also shown to be quite intelligent and manipulative, using his powers strategically to achieve his goals.
However, despite his powers and status, Enmu lives in constant fear of Muzan Kibutsuji, who is known to brutally kill his subordinates if they fail him. This fear drives Enmu to desperate lengths to fulfill his orders and stay in Kibutsuji’s good graces. This ultimately leads to his downfall when he faces off against the Demon Slayers on the Mugen Train.
Enmu’s Personality and Background
Enmu, also known as Lower Moon One, is a significant antagonist in the ‘Demon Slayer’ series, particularly in the ‘Mugen Train’ arc. He is a demon known for his deceptive nature and the enjoyment he derives from manipulating dreams. Enmu wore a long, black button-up coat that arched upwards on either side of his legs so that only the two tails in front and behind fell down below his knees, and a white dress shirt, the cuffs of which appeared over those of his coat. He also wore a pair of pinstriped pale gray pants and plain, slightly heeled shoes of a similar color.
His overall appearance is a stark contrast to the typical human-like appearances of other demons in the series, making him all the more unsettling. Enmu’s personality is defined by his calm and sly demeanor. He is not one to lose his cool easily and often uses his composed nature to his advantage. This calmness, however, is a facade for his manipulative tendencies. He is a master of deceit, using his powers to trap his victims in their dreams and attack them when they are most vulnerable. One of the most notable instances of his deceptive nature is seen during the ‘Mugen Train’ arc. Here, he attempts to trap Tanjiro and his friends in dreams in order to destroy them. This is a clear demonstration of his cunning and strategic mind, as he uses their dreams – a place where they should feel safe – against them. Enmu’s powers are not just limited to dream manipulation. He also has the ability to fuse with inanimate objects, which he uses to merge with the Mugen Train. This not only increases his power but also makes it more difficult for the Demon Slayers to defeat him. In terms of relationships, Enmu doesn’t seem to have any significant connections with other characters. His interactions are primarily driven by his mission to kill the Demon Slayers. He does, however, show a certain level of respect and fear towards Muzan Kibutsuji, the leader of the demons. Over time, Enmu’s character doesn’t undergo any significant transformations or changes. He remains a constant threat to the Demon Slayers until his death. In conclusion, Enmu is a complex character with a unique set of powers and a cunning mind. His deceptive nature and manipulative tactics make him a formidable foe for the Demon Slayers, and his role in the series serves to highlight the darker aspects of the demon world.
