Who is Hairo?
Hairo emerges as the formidable adversary in Kyojuro Rengoku’s narrative. He is a demon with past ties to the Twelve Kizuki, where he once occupied the rank of Lower Rank Two.
Standing tall with an athletic physique, Hairo is distinguished by his spiky black hair, which falls into two bangs framing his face. His affiliation with the Twelve Kizuki is marked by the kanji for “Lower” and the numeral for “Two” inscribed on his left eye, while his visage is accented with numerous black, spike-like markings.
His attire is a blend of Western style and demonic flair. He dons a light-colored suit complemented by a black belt with a buckle, loose-fitting pants, and black boots. Draped over his attire is a black cloak, cape-like in its design with pronounced collars. Topping off his ensemble is a white sailor hat, adorned with a wolf emblem at its forefront, adding to his menacing presence.
Hairo’s Personality and Background
Hairo is a character whose fury seems to know no bounds, to the extent that he resorts to self-harm as a drastic measure to control his rage, a behavior that hints at a self-destructive streak. It is speculated that the roots of his anger stem from his previous life as a human, where he was a member of the Shinsengumi and faced considerable mistreatment. Despite his volatile temper, he is capable of showing respect, as evidenced by his admiration for Kyojuro Rengoku’s sword skills before his demise.
Little is known about Hairo’s past, yet it is clear that he was once a practitioner of Bushidō, the way of the warrior. His swordsmanship, however, was mocked by a group of marksmen, an insult that likely fueled his anger. After his transformation into a demon, he encountered Shinjuro Rengoku, who nearly ended his life. Whether by mercy or his own cunning, Hairo survived, eventually growing in power to assume the position of Lower Rank Two within the Twelve Kizuki.
