Who is Hisa?
Hisa is depicted as a kind and hospitable elderly woman who provides a place of rest for Demon Slayers. After the intense battle with Kyogai at the Tsuzumi Mansion, Tanjiro Kamado and his companions are welcomed by Hisa to recuperate in her home. Her willingness to help the Demon Slayers showcases her supportive nature towards those who fight against demons.
Physically, Hisa is described as a short and elderly lady with the characteristic signs of aging such as wrinkled skin and thick eyebrows. Her hair, which is gray and bulky, is neatly arranged into a bun with a couple of strands framing her face. This traditional hairstyle adds to her elderly and nurturing image.
Her attire is simple and unassuming, consisting of a maroon kimono that is complemented by a purple obi, which is a typical traditional dress for women of her age in Japan. The black zōri sandals and white tabi socks she wears are also in keeping with traditional Japanese clothing, reflecting her cultural background and the setting of the series. Hisa’s character adds a touch of warmth and care to the narrative, providing a brief respite for the main characters amidst their arduous journey.
Hisa comes across as an exceptionally kind and welcoming individual. She readily takes in injured Demon Slayers without hesitation and ensures they have all the necessary provisions for their recovery. Even in the face of Inosuke Hashibira’s and Zenitsu Agatsuma’s impolite behavior, she remains remarkably patient and unfazed by their remarks.
Inosuke even noticed that, despite his heightened senses, he couldn’t detect Hisa’s presence due to her genuinely kind demeanor, devoid of any ill-will.
Hisa’s family had been rescued by the Demon Slayers in the past, and in gratitude for their noble work, they established a free rest house to provide support and shelter to these heroes.
