Who is Tengen Uzui?
Tengen Uzui, also known as the Sound Hashira, is a significant character in the Demon Slayer series. He is one of the strongest members of the Demon Slayer Corps, a group of skilled warriors tasked with protecting humanity from the threat of demons. As a Hashira, Uzui is considered to be among the elite within the corps, and his specialty is the Sound Breathing technique, a unique form of combat that utilizes sound.
Tengen Uzui is an extremely flamboyant and eccentric character, both in his personality and his appearance. He is tall and muscular, with white hair of uneven length. The longest waves touch his shoulders and are cut with three more prominent, shorter clumps, arching above his eyes on either side of his face to fall as bangs. His attire is equally striking, consisting of a a sleeveless and dark turquoise version of the standard Demon Slayer uniform, along with a wrap of burgundy cloth around his calves with his tattsuke-bakama pants tucked in, and white-strapped Zōri. He also wears a headband adorned that’s pale gray decorated by six light pink gemstones, with 3 large and 3 small gemstones. He also wears two thick, golden rings around his upper arms and what appear to be a pair of finger-less blue gloves, secured around his middle finger with a band of white and his wrists with another set of thinner gold rings, this time with two on each side.
Uzui’s eccentricity extends to his personality as well. He is loud, boisterous, and often acts exaggeratedly and dramatically. Despite his flamboyant personality, he is a dedicated and serious warrior when it comes to his mission. He is deeply committed to the Demon Slayer Corps and takes his role as a Hashira very seriously.
Uzui’s primary mission in the series takes place in the Entertainment District Arc, where he infiltrates a red-light district to investigate a series of demon-related incidents. This mission is particularly personal for Uzui, as his three wives, who act as his spies, have gone missing during their investigation in the district.
Despite his seemingly carefree attitude, Uzui is deeply caring and protective of those close to him. He is willing to put himself in danger to ensure the safety of others, showcasing his bravery and dedication to his role as a Hashira.
